Modi’s Education Revolution: India’s Bold Leap to ‘Vishwa Guru’ Status!
In Dibrugarh, Assam, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, engaged with students during the 78th Foundation Day of Assam Medical College & Hospital and the 62nd Foundation Day of Dibru College. In his address, he emphasized the transformative role of the Modi government in revitalizing India's education sector, setting the nation on the path to becoming a ‘Vishwa Guru.’
Addressing the aspiring medical professionals at Assam Medical College, Shri Sonowal remarked, “Doctors play a pivotal role in cultivating a scientific temperament in society. It’s a matter of great pride that the legacy of Assam Medical College is entrusted to you, as you work to enrich lives both physically and mentally. The dedication of our doctors and scientists was vital during the COVID-19 pandemic; while vaccines healed individuals, the selfless service of our medical community healed entire communities. Today, India boasts exceptional talent in clinical excellence, as evidenced by the surge in medical tourism.”
He continued, “We excel not only in modern medicine but also in traditional healing practices. Yoga, one of India’s greatest soft power exports, promotes holistic well-being worldwide. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, we are integrating traditional and contemporary medicine to offer comprehensive health solutions. Our aim is to cultivate a world-class talent pool at Assam Medical College, supported by a government commitment of ₹300 crores for infrastructure improvement. As your MP, I will ensure we elevate AMC to be a premier center of care and healing in the region. AMC is not just a pride of Dibrugarh, but of Assam and the Northeast as a whole. Let your legacy continue to inspire future generations and heal humanity.”
The event saw notable attendance from dignitaries including Bimal Borah, Assam’s Minister; Rameswar Teli, Rajya Sabha MP; Bolin Chetia, MLA; and AMC’s Principal, Prof Sanjeev Kakati, among others.
Shri Sonowal also participated in the 62nd Foundation Day celebration of Dibru College, highlighting its significant contributions to education in the region since its inception. He paid tribute to the college’s founding figures, Bharat Narayan Jamowar and Nanda Lal Borgohain.
At Dibru College, he stated, “The 21st century is marked by competition, and we must equip ourselves to succeed with integrity. This college is dedicated to preparing you for the challenges ahead. Students from across the Northeast are honing their skills here, contributing significantly to nation-building. My message to you is clear: focus on your personal development. There are no shortcuts to success; hard work, character, and discipline are essential. Look to our dynamic Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, as a role model—his dedication to serving the nation is truly inspiring.”

The celebration also featured other prominent figures, including Dr. Saikat Patra, Mayor of DMC; Prof Jiten Hazarika, Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University; and Aditi Baruah, Principal of Dibru College, among others.
