"Meet Tanush Kotian: R Ashwin's Replacement for Australia Series"
Tanush Kotian Set to Join Team India for Boxing Day Test

Mumbai all-rounder Tanush Kotian is gearing up to join the Indian cricket team in Melbourne as a potential replacement for Ravichandran Ashwin ahead of the Boxing Day Test. The 26-year-old, known for his off-spin and solid batting skills, has been informed to be ready for a Tuesday departure to Australia, though official confirmation is awaited.

Kotian, who recently toured Australia with the India A squad, is no stranger to the Melbourne Cricket Ground. During that tour, he showcased his resilience with a remarkable 44-run knock while batting at No. 8, leaving a lasting impression.

Currently representing Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Kotian has cemented his reputation as one of the top off-spinning all-rounders in domestic cricket. His stellar performance in the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season earned him the prestigious 'Player of the Tournament' title. He played a pivotal role in Mumbai’s triumph, taking 29 wickets at an average of 16.96 and scoring 502 runs at an average of 41.83, including five fifties and a century.

Kotian’s selection also carries historical significance, as he becomes the first Mumbai spinner to join the Indian team since Ramesh Powar. With his all-around skills and consistency, Kotian’s inclusion could be a game-changer for Team India as they prepare for the crucial Boxing Day Test against Australia.
