The Bald Eagle was officially declared as the official bird of America after President Biden's signature on the legislation declaring it as the official bird.
The bird was once almost on the brink of extinction and it took more than 200 years to be declared as the official symbol of America. The news was declared on Christmas eve.
"For nearly 250 years, we called the bald eagle the national bird when it wasn't, but now the title is official, and no bird is more deserving,” said Jack Davis, co-chair of the National Bird Initiative for the National Eagle Center, in a statement.
Even Benjamin Franklin of the U.S. famously objected to the bird’s inclusion on the Great Seal, describing the bird to his daughter as “a bird of bad moral character.”
