The very reputed Indian screenwriter, director, and novelist M.T. Vasudevan Nair died at the age of 91. He was born in 1933.
His career began in the early 1960s, and he quickly became synonymous with an emerging new-wave movement in Malayalam cinema.
The Kerala government declared official mourning on December 26-27 to honor MT Vasudevan Nair. “With MT Vasudevan Nair’s passing, we’ve lost a doyen of Malayalam literature who elevated our language to global heights,” Kerela’s chief minister wrote on X.
His most notable work is a novel called Naalukettu for which he won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 1958.
