Gavaskar Questions Kohli and Rohit’s Future After Australia Tour Struggles
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, two of India’s cricketing giants, have come under scrutiny following their underwhelming performances during the Australia tour. With discussions of retirement already circling Rohit, Kohli's repeated dismissals outside the off-stump have also drawn criticism.
Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar didn’t hold back in addressing their struggles, highlighting Kohli's technical flaw. "His foot isn’t moving towards the ball," Gavaskar explained. "This makes him reach for deliveries, leading to repeated dismissals."
As questions arise about the seniors’ roles in the team, Gavaskar pointed out that the top-order’s failure to contribute was the main reason behind India’s struggles. He emphasized that it’s now up to Ajit Agarkar and the selection committee to make tough calls.
"If the top order doesn’t deliver, why blame the lower order?" Gavaskar remarked, urging selectors to evaluate the performances of senior players and their impact on the team.
The cricket legend made it clear that without key contributions from experienced players, India will continue to face setbacks. "The seniors just needed to bat through and fight another day, but that didn’t happen," he said.
With the pressure mounting, all eyes are now on the selectors to decide the future of Indian cricket's top stars
