Will the Stock Market Be Open on New Year’s Day 2025?
Indian Stock Market to Kick Off Trading on New Year's Day 2025

Unlike many global stock exchanges, Indian markets will remain open on January 1, 2025. Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will follow regular trading hours.

As per the holiday schedule, January 1 is not listed as a trading holiday. Pre-open trading will start at 9:00 AM, with regular trading running from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM.

In 2025, the Indian stock market will observe 14 holidays, with the first being Mahashivratri on February 26. Notably, Republic Day, January 26, falls on a Sunday this year.

Globally, several major stock markets like those in Japan, South Korea, Germany, and the US will remain closed on New Year’s Day, reflecting regional holiday traditions. While European markets will resume on January 2, Indian traders will start their year without a pause.

This ensures investors and traders in India can seize early opportunities as the new year begins.
