Deepti Sharma Breaks into Top 5 as Mandhana Slips in ICC ODI Rankings
Deepti Sharma’s stellar performance against West Indies has earned her a spot in the top 5 bowlers in the latest ICC ODI rankings. The off-spinner’s remarkable 6/31 in the final game of the series, along with nine wickets across three matches, helped India achieve a 3-0 sweep in Vadodara. Deepti now holds 665 rating points, just behind South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp (677).
While Deepti’s rise is a highlight, Smriti Mandhana, despite scoring two half-centuries, dropped to third place in the batting rankings. With 720 rating points, she now trails South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt (773) and Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu (733).
Other Indian players also saw changes in their rankings. Jemimah Rodrigues climbed to 22nd with her consistent performances, while Richa Ghosh moved up to 41st after two crucial unbeaten knocks. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, however, dropped three places to 13th.
West Indies players made notable gains as well. Hayley Matthews jumped to seventh in the batting rankings after her seventh ODI century, and Chinelle Henry’s half-century in the final game propelled her 21 spots to 65th.
With no international games lined up for a while, Indian players will now shift focus to domestic cricket and the upcoming Women’s Premier League, where Deepti will don the UP Warriorz jersey once again.
