Michael Clarke Hails Nitish Kumar Reddy, Backs Him for Higher Batting Order
Nitish Kumar Reddy Shines Bright Despite India's Loss in Melbourne Test

India may have fallen short in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but 21-year-old all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy stole the spotlight with his maiden Test century. Scoring 294 runs and claiming three wickets in the series, Reddy’s performance has left a lasting impression, earning high praise from former Australian captain Michael Clarke.

“This young player batting at number eight is an absolute genius. At just 21, he’s been India’s top run-scorer in the series. I believe he should move up the batting order to six or seven,” Clarke shared on the Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast.

Reddy’s seven Test innings include three 40-plus scores, showcasing his ability to anchor innings. With the Indian top-order struggling throughout the series, Clarke highlighted Reddy’s composure against Australia’s bowlers and his ability to bat with the tail.

“He’s patient when needed and aggressive when the moment calls for it. Batting, bowling, or fielding—this guy is a complete package. India has found a gem in him,” Clarke added, emphasizing his potential as a long-term asset for Indian cricket.

With one Test remaining in the series, all eyes are on Reddy as fans and experts alike anticipate more fireworks from this rising star.
