Vodafone Idea Set to Launch Affordable 5G Services in March 2025
Vodafone Idea (Vi) is gearing up to launch its 5G mobile broadband services in March 2025, aiming to attract customers with competitive pricing. According to a report from the Economic Times, the telecom giant plans to roll out its services in the top 75 cities across India, focusing on 17 priority circles and industrial hubs known for high data demand.
Vi's shares saw a slight increase of 1.37% to close at ₹8.13, reflecting positive market sentiment. As it faces tough competition from Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and BSNL, Vodafone Idea intends to offer entry-level mobile plans that could be up to 15% cheaper than those of its rivals. This pricing strategy is expected to ignite a price war in the industry.
A Vodafone Idea spokesperson confirmed the company's commitment to delivering an exceptional user experience while maintaining affordability. With ample 5G spectrum in its priority markets, Vi aims to enhance its 4G coverage alongside the introduction of 5G in key cities.
Industry analysts suggest that Vodafone Idea may also consider increasing dealer commissions and promotional spending to attract high-value prepaid users from its competitors. While Jio and Airtel raised their prices for 5G plans last July, Vi's competitive pricing may help it reclaim market share and strengthen its position in the telecom sector.
