Vidya Balan's Post for Rohit Sharma Sparks Controversy on Social Media

 

Rohit Sharma's decision to skip the 5th Test against Australia in Sydney created a buzz, with many speculating about his form and future in cricket. While fans debated his absence, Bollywood actress Vidya Balan took to social media to applaud Rohit's decision to step back, calling it an act of courage.

 

"Rohit Sharma, what a SUPERSTAR! To take a pause & catch your breath requires courage. More power to you... Respect!" she wrote in a post.

 

However, her tribute didn’t sit well with some users on X (formerly Twitter), who alleged the post was a PR stunt. Community Notes even flagged the post as a possible undisclosed sponsored content, citing evidence like a deleted Instagram photo. Though the notes were later removed, the controversy gained traction online.

 

In response, Vidya’s team clarified that the post was genuine and not influenced by any PR efforts. "Vidya was moved by Rohit’s selfless act and shared her thoughts out of admiration, not due to any sponsorship," the statement read.
