"Ruben Amorim Aims to Shake Up Manchester United’s Mentality"
Ruben Amorim Demands Mental Shift to Revive Manchester United

Ruben Amorim believes Manchester United has grown "too comfortable" and urged his players to consistently show the fighting spirit they displayed in their 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. Facing the league leaders after a string of four defeats, few expected United to pose much of a threat. However, Amorim's side delivered a gritty performance, ending their Anfield goal drought since 2018 and earning a well-deserved point.

"The key today was mentality," Amorim remarked. "I think everyone at Manchester United—players, staff—has become too settled. Sometimes, we need a wake-up call. Today, we showed what we’re capable of when the focus is right."

Bruno Fernandes echoed Amorim's sentiments, expressing frustration at the team’s inconsistency. "It’s upsetting that we only play like this against top teams. This is the level we should be bringing every single game," said the United captain.

Amorim highlighted the importance of discipline in key areas of the game. "It wasn’t about tactics or formations today. It was about focus—on set pieces, on avoiding mistakes in dangerous areas. When we maintain that kind of mentality, we’re a different team."

Despite Liverpool extending their lead at the top of the table, manager Arne Slot admitted his team missed a chance to solidify their position. With United struggling for consistency this season, Amorim’s call for a stronger mentality could be the spark the team needs to turn their fortunes around.
