SEBI Cautions Ola Electric Over Social Media Disclosures Before Stock Exchange Filing
Ola Electric has received a warning from SEBI for violating disclosure regulations after its CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, shared company news on social media before officially filing with the stock exchanges.
SEBI flagged the issue regarding Aggarwal's December 2024 Twitter post about Ola’s expansion plans, which should have been disclosed to the exchanges first, as per regulatory rules. The warning highlighted that such premature announcements on social media could unfairly give some investors an advantage by not ensuring equal access to information.
While the warning does not affect Ola's financial or operational activities, SEBI stressed the importance of following proper disclosure protocols to ensure transparency and fairness in the market.
