Bumrah's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Participation in Doubt Amid Recovery in Australia
Bumrah’s Fitness Woes Cast Doubt Over Champions Trophy 2025 Participation

Jasprit Bumrah’s injury has become a major concern for Team India ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place in Pakistan and Dubai. The star pacer suffered a back spasm during the Sydney Test against Australia, forcing him to skip bowling in the second innings.

While the full extent of his injury remains uncertain, reports suggest Bumrah is likely to miss the upcoming ODI series against England starting February 9. His availability for the Champions Trophy is also in question. India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, confirmed that the medical team is carefully assessing his condition, with Bumrah himself emphasizing the need to prioritize recovery.

Currently undergoing treatment in Australia, Bumrah will face further evaluations upon returning to India. Sources hint that while he may miss the initial matches of the Champions Trophy, he could return for the knockout stages if India advances.

The Indian squad for the England ODIs and Champions Trophy will be announced on January 12, with Bumrah’s inclusion likely to depend on medical clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Bumrah’s fitness is crucial for India’s campaign, especially after his stellar 32-wicket haul in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. As the team gears up for the marquee event, all eyes are on Bumrah’s recovery timeline.
