Manoj Tiwary Criticizes Gautam Gambhir, Accuses Him of Bias and Abusive Behavior
Former India and KKR cricketer Manoj Tiwary has made serious allegations against India's head coach Gautam Gambhir, accusing him of abusive behavior and biased team selections. Tiwary, speaking in an interview, claimed that Gambhir had insulted his family and spoken poorly about former India captain Sourav Ganguly during a heated exchange in a Ranji Trophy match.
Recalling the incident, Tiwary said, “When Gambhir fought with me during a Ranji game in Delhi, everyone heard what he said. Whether it was badmouthing Sourav Ganguly or abusing my family, he was protected by a few individuals. That’s the PR I’m talking about.”
Tiwary also criticized Gambhir’s approach to team selection, calling it unfair. He pointed out the replacement of Akash Deep with Harshit Rana in India’s playing XI, despite Akash's strong performances in previous matches. “Akash bowled brilliantly against Bangladesh and New Zealand, but he was dropped for someone with less first-class experience. If Harshit Rana was so good, why wasn’t he consistently played? This shows bias,” Tiwary added.
He also alleged that players defending Gambhir are influenced by favoritism. “Why wouldn’t players like Nitish Rana or Harshit Rana defend him? It’s clear they benefited from his decisions,” Tiwary remarked.
Tiwary concluded by emphasizing the need for fair selection processes, saying, “I only speak facts. This PR culture is evident, and it never used to happen before. Players like Akash Deep deserve a voice.”
These remarks have sparked fresh debates about Gambhir's leadership and the transparency of team selection under his tenure.
