Yograj Singh, father of cricketer Yuvraj Singh, has sparked outrage with his controversial comments about the Hindi language and women. Speaking on a YouTube interview, Yograj described Hindi as a “soft” language suited to women, stating that it sounds better when spoken by them than by men. "When a woman speaks Hindi, it’s pleasant, but when a man speaks it, it feels strange," he remarked.
He further claimed Punjabi is a more "masculine" language and mocked Hindi speakers by mimicking a softer tone during the discussion.
Yograj’s remarks didn’t stop there, as he also made contentious statements about women in positions of power. Citing former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he claimed, "A wife, if given power, could ruin a household. Indira Gandhi ran this country and destroyed it. Respect women, love them, but don’t give them power."
The comments have drawn sharp criticism, with many calling them outdated and offensive.
