Indian chess sensation Arjun Erigaisi clinched victory in the Titled Tuesday blitz tournament hosted by Chess.com, defeating World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen and World No. 2 Fabiano Caruana in an incredible run.
The 21-year-old secured 10 points out of 11 rounds, sealing his triumph with back-to-back wins over Carlsen in round 10 and Caruana in the final round. His only loss came in round seven against American grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura, currently ranked third in the FIDE classical ratings.
The event, featuring over 900 participants, demanded players adhere to strict fair play protocols, including mandatory Zoom calls. Nakamura, a regular at this competition, hailed it as one of the toughest tournaments in the world.
Hailing from Warangal, Telangana, Arjun trained at the BS Chess Academy in Hanamkonda and continues to rise as a formidable force in the chess world.
