Overnight Rain In Delhi

Overnight Rain In Delhi
Overnight rainfall in the Delhi-National Capital Region has led to a slight improvement in air quality and a rise in temperature, with no reports of flooding or waterlogging. However, the air quality remains in the 'very poor' category, with the Central Pollution Control Board recording an AQI of 356 on Thursday.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has reimposed stricter pollution measures under GRAP-3 and GRAP-4 due to deteriorating air quality. The AQI had sharply increased from 275 on January 14 to 386 on January 15, primarily due to dense fog and low temperatures that hindered the dispersion of pollutants. By late afternoon on January 15, the AQI rose further to 393 and 396 at 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, respectively, with predictions indicating it could breach the 400 mark.

In response to these conditions, the Directorate of Education has mandated hybrid classes for students up to Class IX and XI. The persistent cold wave is contributing to elevated pollution levels across the region.

Current weather conditions show a minimum temperature of 11.2 degrees Celsius, with light rain expected throughout the day. The IMD forecasts that while air quality may improve slightly as the day progresses, it remains crucial for residents to monitor air quality updates and limit outdoor activities.

  Key Updates:
-AQI: Recorded at 356; classified as 'very poor.'
-Weather: Overnight rain improved conditions slightly; temperatures rose.
-Restrictions: GRAP-3 and GRAP-4 measures reimposed.
-School Operations: Hybrid mode for classes up to IX and XI.

Residents are advised to remain cautious and stay informed about air quality developments.
