BCCI Enforces Strict Rules for Indian Cricketers After Australia Series Loss
Following the Indian cricket team’s disappointing performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, the BCCI has introduced a series of strict policies to ensure discipline, focus, and team cohesion among senior players.
Key Highlights of the New Rules:
1. Limited Family Time on Tours: On tours lasting more than 45 days, players' families can only join them for two weeks. Even during this period, players are required to travel and stay with the team, not separately with their families.
2. Ban on Personal Endorsements During Tours: Players are now barred from participating in personal shoots or promotional activities while on national duty. They must also remain present for all BCCI-mandated events and shoots.
3. Mandatory Domestic Cricket Participation: To be eligible for selection in the national team or for central contracts, cricketers must play domestic matches. This ensures they remain connected to India’s grassroots cricket system and maintain match fitness.
4. No Early Exits from Practice: Players must attend full practice sessions without exceptions, promoting discipline and a stronger work ethic.
5. Disciplinary Actions for Non-Compliance: Any violation of these rules could result in severe consequences, such as suspension from BCCI activities or deductions from match fees and contracts.
Promoting Team Spirit
The BCCI also emphasized the importance of team unity. All players must stay with the team for the entire duration of tours, even if matches conclude early. This ensures uninterrupted bonding and avoids distractions.
By implementing these measures, the BCCI aims to rebuild focus, inspire emerging players, and strengthen India’s cricketing future.
