"Maruti Suzuki Launches eVITARA: Its First Electric SUV Set for Global Export"
Maruti Suzuki Unveils eVITARA: India to Become Global Hub for First Electric SUV

At the Auto Expo during the Bharat Mobility Show, Suzuki Motor Corporation President Toshihiro Suzuki unveiled Maruti Suzuki's first electric SUV, the eVITARA. Positioned as a global strategic model, the eVITARA will be exported to over 100 countries, including key markets in Europe and Japan.

India's Role as a Global Manufacturing Hub

Suzuki Motor Corporation, holding a 58% stake in Maruti Suzuki India, has chosen India as the central production hub for the eVITARA. Production is set to commence soon at the Gujarat plant, supported by an investment of over ₹2,100 crore. This includes a dedicated EV production line.

A Comprehensive EV Strategy

The eVITARA represents Suzuki’s first global push into battery electric vehicles (BEVs). According to Mr. Suzuki, the company aims to make BEVs more appealing through a three-pronged approach:

1. BEV-Optimized Platform: Designing vehicles specifically for electric performance.

2. Market-Focused Development: Tailoring products to meet customer needs in key regions like India, Japan, and Europe.

3. Global Economies of Scale: Concentrating manufacturing in India to maximize quality and cost efficiency.

Enhancing the EV Ecosystem

Maruti Suzuki plans to ensure a seamless EV ownership experience through its "e for me" initiative. The company will offer smart home chargers with installation support and leverage its extensive network to provide convenient charging solutions.

A Bold Step into the Future

"India’s quality products and scale advantage make it the ideal global base for eVITARA production," Mr. Suzuki emphasized. With this launch, Maruti Suzuki is not just entering the EV market but aiming to redefine it, both in India and across the world.
