Prince Harry Takes Legal Action Against Murdoch's Newspapers
Prince Harry's long-awaited lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch's News Group Newspapers begins this week at the High Court in London. The Duke of Sussex, who has been living in California, is suing the publisher of the Sun and the now-defunct News of the World over allegations that journalists unlawfully gathered private information about him from 1996 to 2011.

Harry, 40, is one of only two remaining plaintiffs in a case originally involving around 40 claimants, most of whom have settled. He aims to hold the newspapers accountable for their alleged unlawful practices, including phone hacking. The trial is expected to last eight weeks and will initially address broader issues related to the newspapers' operations during the late 1990s and early 2010s.

During the proceedings, Harry is anticipated to testify for at least two days, alongside other notable witnesses, including former Labour deputy leader Tom Watson. The case could have significant implications for Murdoch's media empire, which has faced scrutiny over past phone-hacking scandals and has previously issued apologies for unlawful activities.

Harry views this lawsuit as a crucial opportunity to seek accountability from the British press, particularly following his experiences with intrusive media coverage since marrying Meghan Markle in 2018.
