Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday, urging them to fulfill their commitments in Punjab before proposing new schemes for Delhi ahead of the February 5 assembly elections. During a press conference in New Delhi, Bittu accused AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal of failing to deliver on promises made in Punjab, particularly the unimplemented pledge to provide Rs 1,000 per month to women.
Bittu highlighted that while Kejriwal frequently announces free schemes in Delhi, he has not taken substantial action on issues like drug addiction in Punjab, which recorded 144 overdose deaths in 2023—the highest in India. He also raised concerns about the law and order situation under AAP governance, noting a 10% increase in rape cases and the assassination of singer Sidhu Moose Wala after his security was downgraded.
Additionally, Bittu pointed to the negative impact of AAP's liquor excise policy on alcoholism rates and criticized the party for not addressing the ongoing brain drain from Punjab, as more youth migrate abroad despite AAP's assurances to tackle this issue.
