In a historic achievement, the Indian men's and women's kho kho teams triumphed over Nepal in their respective finals at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday, securing the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025 titles. The men's team won decisively with a score of 54-36, while the women's team outperformed their counterparts with a score of 78-40.
The tournament, supported by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), featured 20 men's teams and 19 women's teams. In the men's final, Nepal won the toss and chose to defend first, but India quickly capitalized on their offensive opportunities, establishing a commanding 26-0 lead by the end of Turn 1. Despite Nepal's efforts to close the gap in subsequent turns, India maintained control and finished strong.
Similarly, in the women's final, Nepal opted to let India attack first, a decision that backfired as India surged to an early lead. Captain Priyanka Ingle led her team effectively, helping them achieve a 34-0 advantage by the end of Turn 1. The Indian women continued their dominance throughout the match, ultimately securing their victory.
