Virat Kohli Set to Return to Ranji Trophy After 13 Years
Virat Kohli is all set to make his long-awaited return to the Ranji Trophy after 13 years. The former Indian captain will play for Delhi in their final group match against Railways, starting January 30. Kohli last featured in a Ranji game back in 2012 and will now be playing under the leadership of Ayush Badoni.
Initially, there were talks of Kohli playing Delhi's match against Saurashtra on January 23, but a neck injury ruled him out. However, the star batter confirmed his availability for the last league fixture, as shared by Delhi's head coach Sarandeep Singh.
This decision aligns with the BCCI’s mandate for players to participate in domestic cricket when not representing the national team.
In his Ranji career, Kohli has played 23 matches, scoring 1,574 runs at an average of 50.77, with five centuries to his name. His standout season was in 2009-10, where he averaged an impressive 93.50.
With Kohli under the spotlight following a challenging Border-Gavaskar Trophy, fans will be eager to see him back in action in the domestic arena.
