India Claims Historic Double Victory at Inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025

India’s men’s and women’s kho kho teams made history at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, by winning the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025 titles with commanding performances against Nepal in the finals.

The Indian men defeated Nepal 54-36 in an intense final. Nepal, after winning the toss, chose to defend first but couldn’t hold back India’s aggressive play. India established an early lead of 26-0 in Turn 1 and extended their dominance in Turn 3 to make it 54-18. Despite Nepal’s efforts in the final turn, India held their ground to secure the historic win.

Meanwhile, the Indian women’s team delivered a stellar performance, overwhelming Nepal with a 78-40 victory. Nepal opted to defend first, but India’s relentless attack, led by captain Priyanka Ingle, gave the hosts a 34-0 advantage in the opening turn. The Indian defenders maintained their composure, and by Turn 3, India had widened the gap to 73-24, sealing the championship title.

Both Indian teams remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. The men’s team topped Group A with four wins, including a close match against Nepal, before defeating Sri Lanka in the quarter-finals and South Africa in the semi-finals. The women’s team also showcased their dominance by winning all their group matches and outclassing Bangladesh and South Africa in the knockout stages.

The tournament, supported by the Indian Olympic Association, featured 20 men’s and 19 women’s teams, marking a significant milestone for the sport. India’s double triumph has set a high benchmark for future editions of the Kho Kho World Cup.
