Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal responded to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's criticisms of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government regarding law and order in Delhi. Kejriwal agreed with Adityanath's assessment that the situation is dire but redirected responsibility to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging Adityanath to advise him on improving safety in the national capital.
Kejriwal stated, "I agree with Yogi ji that Delhi's law and order is in shambles. The responsibility for maintaining law and order in Delhi lies with Amit Shah. I request Yogi ji to sit with him and guide him on how to fix this situation." He accused Shah of being preoccupied with political maneuvering rather than addressing the escalating crime rates in Delhi.
Adityanath had previously labeled Delhi a "garbage dump" and criticized the AAP for its governance, alleging that it has facilitated illegal settlements and neglected essential services. He challenged Kejriwal to take a dip in the polluted Yamuna River, questioning the AAP's commitment to environmental cleanliness.
The exchange comes as Delhi prepares for assembly elections on February 5, with both leaders seeking to rally support and highlight their respective governance records. Kejriwal emphasized AAP's achievements in providing consistent electricity and services, contrasting them with the conditions in Uttar Pradesh under BJP rule.
