"Shailesh Kumar Davey Steps Up as New CEO of Zoho Corporation, Succeeds Sridhar Vembu"
Zoho Corporation has appointed its co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davey as the new group CEO, effective from January 27. This shift marks a significant change for the company as Sridhar Vembu, the company’s long-time CEO, transitions into the role of Chief Scientist. Vembu’s move will allow him to focus more on Zoho’s ambitions in artificial intelligence and machine learning while Davey steps into the role of leading the company’s next phase of growth.
Shailesh Kumar Davey, who co-founded Zoho alongside Vembu, is an experienced technologist with an impressive academic background. A graduate of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in 1992, Davey earned a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in metallurgy before going on to complete a Master of Technology (MTech) in Industrial Management from IIT Madras.
Before his promotion to CEO, Davey played a pivotal role in Zoho’s engineering division, especially with the company’s IT management arm, ManageEngine. As the Vice President of Engineering for ManageEngine, he was deeply involved in network projects and contributed significantly to the company’s innovative approach to IT management solutions. His expertise also extends to optimising everything from software to servers and data centres, a philosophy he has long championed.
With Zoho’s continued expansion into emerging technologies, especially in AI, Davey’s leadership comes at a crucial time. As Sridhar Vembu moves into his new role, the focus will be on Zoho’s growth in the AI space, and Davey is expected to steer the company towards new horizons while building on its legacy in the tech industry.
