Kohli Fever Grips Delhi as Fans Flock to Stadium at Dawn
Virat Kohli’s return to the Ranji Trophy sent Delhi into a frenzy, with fans queuing outside Arun Jaitley Stadium as early as 4 AM on Thursday. The former Indian captain donned the Delhi jersey in domestic cricket after 12 years, drawing an unprecedented crowd for a Ranji match.
To celebrate his comeback, the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) made entry free, requiring only an Aadhar Card for access. The atmosphere outside the stadium was electric, with chants of “Kohli, Kohli” and “RCB, RCB” filling the air.
“This is a rare sight for a Ranji Trophy match. Such a massive turnout is only for Virat Kohli,” said a fan, Shantanu Mishra. Another devoted supporter, Akash Kumar, who arrived at 5:30 AM, expressed his excitement: “I’ve admired Kohli since childhood. Watching him play live is a dream come true.”
Delhi, led by Ayush Badoni, won the toss and chose to field first against Railways in this highly anticipated clash.
