Gavaskar Questions India’s Concussion Call, Criticizes Gambhir & Suryakumar
Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has raised concerns over India’s handling of the concussion substitute rule during the fourth T20I against England. He criticized head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav, claiming the decision to replace Shivam Dube with Harshit Rana was unfair and unnecessary.
Gavaskar pointed out that Dube continued batting despite being hit on the helmet, suggesting he wasn’t concussed. He argued that while a substitute could have been allowed for fielding due to an injury, bringing in Rana as a “like-for-like” replacement made no sense.
The cricket legend added that India is a strong team and doesn’t need such controversial decisions to overshadow its victories, implying that England had every right to feel wronged.
