Rohit Sharma Brushes Off Retirement Speculations, Focuses on Upcoming Matches
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has returned to action after a tough Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia and is gearing up for the three-match ODI series against England. However, during a pre-match press conference in Nagpur, he was asked whether the BCCI had asked him to make a decision about his future post-Champions Trophy.
A visibly unimpressed Rohit dismissed the question, stating that he wouldn’t clarify any such reports. "These rumors have been around for years. Right now, my focus is on the upcoming ODIs and the Champions Trophy. We’ll see what happens after that," he said.
Reports had earlier claimed that the BCCI selectors had spoken to Rohit during the last selection meeting, seeking clarity on his plans beyond the Champions Trophy. Allegedly, the team management is strategizing for the next World Test Championship (WTC) cycle and the ODI World Cup, aiming for a smooth transition. However, Rohit chose not to engage with these speculations, keeping his attention on the present challenges.
