Walmart Reshapes Workforce: Job Cuts & Office Relocations Underway

Retail giant Walmart is making major structural changes, cutting jobs and relocating employees to its main offices in Arkansas and California. According to an internal memo, the company is consolidating its corporate workforce to enhance efficiency and collaboration.

As part of this shift, Walmart is shutting down its Charlotte, North Carolina office and asking employees from smaller locations, including Hoboken, New Jersey, to move to its Bentonville, Arkansas headquarters or Sunnyvale, California. Reports indicate that hundreds of corporate positions are being eliminated in the process.

This move follows a similar decision last year when Walmart directed employees in Dallas, Atlanta, and Toronto to transition to larger hubs, primarily in Bentonville. Chief People Officer Donna Morris stated that the restructuring aims to streamline operations and improve coordination among teams.

With new office spaces set to open in Sunnyvale and Bellevue, Washington later this year, Walmart continues to reshape its corporate structure to align with its long-term business strategy.
