Israeli Drone Strike in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley Kills Six Amid Fragile Ceasefire

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, an Israeli drone strike targeted the al-Shaara area near the town of Janta in Lebanon's eastern Bekaa Valley, resulting in six fatalities and two injuries. The Israeli military claimed the strike targeted a "strategic weapons manufacturing and storage site" belonging to Hezbollah. This incident occurred despite a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah that took effect on November 27, 2024, following nearly 14 months of conflict. Since the ceasefire, there have been multiple reports of violations, with Israeli forces conducting near-daily attacks in Lebanon. The Lebanese government has condemned these actions and lodged complaints with the UN Security Council over Israeli aggression in the southern part of the country.
