India and Greece Strengthen Ties Through India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor

India and Greece are enhancing their bilateral relationship by focusing on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), a project announced during the G20 Summit in September 2023 in New Delhi. IMEEC aims to connect India with the Gulf and Europe through two strategic corridors: an eastern corridor linking India to the Gulf and a northern corridor connecting the Gulf to Europe, thereby enhancing trade routes and economic integration across continents. During a recent meeting between India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, both leaders emphasized the corridor's potential to strengthen connectivity between the two nations. Greece's strategic location and its ports, particularly Piraeus, are expected to serve as major entry points for Indian goods into Europe, facilitating faster and more efficient trade routes.
