Gautam Gambhir Under Fire for KL Rahul’s ODI Role, Kris Srikkanth Questions Team Strategy
Despite India leading 2-0 in the ODI series against England, team selection and batting order decisions have sparked debate. Former India captain Kris Srikkanth has openly criticized head coach Gautam Gambhir for sidelining KL Rahul in favor of Axar Patel.
In a video on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth expressed disappointment over Rahul’s fluctuating batting position, arguing that the wicketkeeper-batter has excelled at No. 5 and deserves stability. He questioned why the left-right combination theory is applied inconsistently, especially when it comes to Rahul’s role.
Taking a direct dig at Gambhir, Srikkanth insisted that while Axar Patel is performing well, pushing Rahul further down the order is unfair. He also called out the decision to bench Rishabh Pant for two consecutive games, adding to the confusion in India's batting setup.
With these controversial calls, is Team India risking the confidence of key players despite their series lead?
