Speaking at the AI Action Summit at the Grand Palais in Paris, which he co-chaired with French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi addressed concerns about AI-induced job disruptions. He noted that while job loss is a common fear associated with AI, historical trends indicate that technology changes the nature of work rather than eliminating it. He stressed the need for initiatives in skilling and re-skilling to equip individuals for an AI-centric future.
Modi also advocated for the development of open-source systems to foster trust and transparency. He called for the establishment of unbiased, high-quality data centers and the democratization of technology to create applications centered on people. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of addressing issues related to cybersecurity, disinformation, and deepfakes. The Prime Minister emphasized that for technology to be effective and beneficial, it must be integrated into local ecosystems.
