Chris Gayle Backs Kohli for a Century, Calls Rohit Sharma ‘New King’
Despite a rough patch in 2024, Virat Kohli has the backing of his former RCB teammate Chris Gayle, who believes the Indian star will bounce back in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with a century. Kohli, who had an outstanding 2023 ODI World Cup, struggled last year, managing only 655 runs in 23 matches. However, his key performances included a crucial 76 in the T20 World Cup final and an unbeaten 100 in the Perth Test against Australia.
Gayle, a former West Indies cricketer and 2004 Champions Trophy winner, is confident Kohli will regain form and surpass his own milestone of 200 more runs.
Meanwhile, Gayle also hailed Rohit Sharma as the "new king in town" after the Indian captain broke his record for the most sixes in ODIs. Praising Rohit's explosive batting, Gayle said, "Sports always need a new entertainer, and Rohit has been doing it for years. Congrats to him—I hope he smashes even more sixes!"
