In a stiff demand from the government to take back its decision of demonetization, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, at a rally in Kolkata, has pledged to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Indian politics.

"Today, I am taking a pledge, whether I die or live I will remove PM Modi from Indian politics," she said.

Criticised the note ban further, she said that the government is "acting like God" and said, "Bazaar, cinema, Jatra (theatre) - everything got affected, but he (the Prime Minister) didn't care about common people." 

"Most of the people in rural areas do not have bank accounts. How will they cope up with this situation?" Banerjee said after her protest march. 

Continuing her tirade against Modi, Banerjee said she would fight till the end against the "anti-people" decision which has imposed an "undeclared financial emergency" in the country. 

Earlier, the opposition parties have demanded countrywide strike to push the government for rolling back its action of banning higher denomination.
