Indian Woman Executed in UAE for Infant's Death Family Seeks Justice
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that Shahzadi Khan, a 33-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh's Banda district, was executed in Abu Dhabi on February 15, 2025, following her conviction for the alleged murder of a four-month-old infant under her care.
Khan had been employed as a caregiver in Abu Dhabi since December 2021. In December 2022, the infant she was caring for died after receiving routine vaccinations. Khan was accused of causing the child's death and was subsequently arrested in February 2023.
Despite legal assistance provided by the Indian Embassy, including filing mercy petitions and pardon requests, the UAE's highest court, the Court of Cassation, upheld her death sentence.
The MEA was officially informed of the execution on February 28, 2025, and promptly notified Khan's family. Her last rites are scheduled for March 5 in the UAE.
Khan's father, Shabbir Khan, expressed profound grief and claimed that his daughter was not given a fair trial, alleging that her confession was coerced through torture and abuse by her employer.

The family is now seeking assistance to bring her body back to India for the last rites.
