In a bid to make citizen of India respect national anthem, the Supreme Court has ordered all the cinema halls in the country to play national anthem and show national flag before screening of a film. 

While reviewing a petition that alleged misuse of the National Anthem, the court said that citizen must respect the National Anthem & flag.

A bench of justices Dipak Misra and Amitava Roy said that "people must feel this is my country and this is my motherland." 

"People now-a-days don't know how to sing national anthem and people must be taught. All people present must rise and pay respect to the anthem," the bench said. 

The apex court has given one week's time to make arrangement for the implementing court's order.

Lauding SC's order, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu reacted by saying that the order will inculcate a sense of patriotism among people, particularly the younger generation.

"It's a very good decision. It will inculcate a sense of patriotism among people particularly the younger generation. I am very happy about it," Naidu said.
