The Bihar Sports Department is putting in all the hard yards as preparations near completion for the upcoming Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025, set to be hosted at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna from March 20 to 25. In a recent meeting held in Patna, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Sports Department reviewed and finalised arrangements for welcoming over 20 participating countries and their athletes to the international tournament.
With global attention turning toward Bihar, the department has ensured all necessary measures are in place — from international-standard sports facilities and athlete amenities to stringent security arrangements. The hosting of this event is expected to boost Bihar’s image on the global sporting map and accelerate the development of sports culture in the state.
In another key announcement, the deadline for Gram Panchayat and Nagar Panchayat Sports Club applications has been extended until March 15, 2025. The move aims to encourage maximum participation, ensuring that panchayats yet to apply get a final opportunity to be part of the state's sports development initiative.
Bihar is also gearing up to host the Khelo India Youth Games across five districts — Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Rajgir, Gaya and Patna. The Additional Chief Secretary emphasised the importance of infrastructure development in these districts and will conduct on-ground reviews alongside the Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority and the Director of Sports to ensure timely execution.
