PM Modi Arrives in Mauritius
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Mauritius for a two-day state visit, marking a significant diplomatic engagement as the chief guest at the island nation's National Day celebrations on March 12. Welcomed warmly by Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam at the Port Louis airport, Modi expressed optimism that this visit would open a "new and bright" chapter in India-Mauritius relations.
During his stay, Modi will engage with Mauritian leadership, including meetings with the president and senior officials, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors. The visit is set to include the inauguration of over 20 India-funded projects, such as the Civil Service College and an Area Health Centre, which aim to enhance governance and health infrastructure in Mauritius.

A contingent of Indian armed forces will participate in the National Day celebrations, showcasing the strong defense ties between the two nations. Modi emphasized the historical and cultural connections that bind India and Mauritius, describing the island nation as a key partner in the Indian Ocean region. This visit underscores India's commitment to supporting Mauritius in its development goals while reinforcing their enduring friendship.
