Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Mauritius for a two-day state visit, marking a significant diplomatic engagement as the chief guest at the island nation's National Day celebrations on March 12. Welcomed warmly by Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam at the Port Louis airport, Modi expressed optimism that this visit would open a "new and bright" chapter in India-Mauritius relations.
During his stay, Modi will engage with Mauritian leadership, including meetings with the president and senior officials, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors. The visit is set to include the inauguration of over 20 India-funded projects, such as the Civil Service College and an Area Health Centre, which aim to enhance governance and health infrastructure in Mauritius.
