Microsoft Laying Foundations for new Version

Microsoft Laying Foundations for new Version
Microsoft has announced plans to test new platform updates for Windows 11 through builds in the 26200 range, now available to Insiders in the Dev Channel. These updates are believed to set the stage for version 25H2, expected to release later in 2025.
Key Highlights:
  • Snapdragon X2 Compatibility: The updates include changes needed for Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon X2 chip. Previously limited to the Windows Canary Channel, these modifications are now being tested in the Dev Channel to ensure smoother performance on Germanium-based versions of Windows 11.
  • Germanium Platform Continuity: Germanium, which underpins version 24H2, is likely to remain the foundation for version 25H2. While Microsoft hasn’t confirmed this, the backporting of development features suggests both versions may share the same platform release.

This move reflects Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to optimize Windows 11 for emerging hardware while maintaining consistency across its platform architecture.
