Indian Army Highlights Security Lapses Along Jammu's International Border
The Indian Army has raised concerns over persistent security vulnerabilities along the International Border (IB) in the southern sector of Jammu, particularly in the stretch between the Ravi River and the Shakargarh Bulge. This area, characterized by broken terrain and dense vegetation, has been frequently exploited by Pakistan-trained terrorists for infiltration, aiming to reignite terrorism in the Jammu region.

Recent patterns have revealed a troubling operational route used by infiltrators. Terrorists are crossing the IB through terrain gaps, reaching National Highway 44—located just 5 to 8 kilometers away—and then disappearing into civilian areas. From there, they navigate through the Banni-Machedi belt, eventually entering the dense forests and mountainous regions of Doda and Kishtwar. These remote areas serve as ideal hideouts and staging grounds, complicating detection and counter-terrorism operations.
