In a stiff protest against demonetization, Congress has asked BJP to reveal the source of the money spent on the wedding ceremony of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's daughter.

Congress spokesperson Gaurav Gogoi has attacked the minister by saying that the crores were spent on the ceremony after ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. 

"The Congress party demands for the sake of transparency that BJP leaders explain where this money spent in weddings had come from and how this money has been spent, how much in cash and how much in cheques. We are demanding because the Prime Minister in his recent political meeting took a precedent of showing transparency by revealing the details of its members and MLAs as well," Gogoi said. 

The party has also blamed the government for implementing different law for BJP and setaside different law for the rest of the country.

The citizens of India are hurt by the insensitive and ostentatious display of wealth, he said.

People are struggling to carry out wedding ceremonies for Rs 2.5 lakh as stipulated by the government, while BJP leaders are enjoying lavish celebrations.
