The first signs of tourism in India being impacted following the Pahalgam terror attack on tourist are being witnessed in Goa, which has cast a shadow over Goa's tourism prospects and is likely to impact footfalls this month (in May), as the coastal state is witnessing a wave of booking cancellations. Concerned about the potential repercussions on the current tourism season, the state government commenced consultations with key industry stakeholders.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte held discussions on Tuesday (May 13) with representatives from various segments of the tourism ecosystem — including the Tourism Trade Association of Goa, water sports operators, shack owners, and hoteliers.
Khaunte shared with the media that the early months of 2025 had seen a noticeable rise in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year.
