The Chamber of Tourism, Trade and Industry Katra (CTTIK), representing stakeholders from the pilgrim town of Katra — the gateway to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine — has said that the recent escalation of violence in the region has decimated the tourism season in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement following an emergency meeting, the CTTIK attributed the sharp collapse in tourist inflow to the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, which claimed the lives of 26 people. The industry body appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to urgently announce a comprehensive economic relief package to counter the fallout.
