KPIT Technologies, an automotive technology company, has established a new technology centre in Gothenburg, Sweden. This is KPIT’s first location in the Nordics and signifies its entry into the Swedish automotive and mobility ecosystem. This initiative is part of the company’s strategic expansion into key global mobility hubs.
The technology centre is at Lindholmen Science Park, the core of Sweden’s automotive and mobility research and development ecosystem. It is surrounded by leading Swedish passenger car and commercial vehicle manufacturers, academic institutions, and innovative mobility start-ups. Through this investment, KPIT aims to leverage the region’s vibrant talent and innovation landscape.
Sachin Tikekar, president and joint managing director of KPIT Technologies, stated that Sweden is a hub of innovation, particularly in safe and sustainable mobility. Having a presence in Gothenburg will enable KPIT to be closer to prominent Swedish and European Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), fostering quicker collaboration and addressing their core business challenges with advanced software, hardware design, and manufacturing engineering capabilities.
A significant portion of KPIT’s revenue comes from the European market. In fiscal year 2025, revenues from Europe reached $ 329.59 million, compared to $ 189.60 million from the United States and $ 172.4 million from Asia. KPIT has formed strategic partnerships with leading European mobility OEMs and has centres in Germany, the UK, France, Italy, and now Sweden, which will work in alignment with these existing centres.
KPIT is currently in discussions with two truck OEMs and one passenger car OEM in Europe. Recently, it also signed a partnership agreement with Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) to work in the area of software-defined vehicles. German OEMs are seeking partnerships to accelerate their programs, positioning KPIT to capture growth opportunities. European companies are striving to compete with Chinese firms, creating a favourable environment for KPIT to step in.
