Meanwhile, the J&K Chief Minister exuded confidence over the support his government was receiving from the Centre to revive tourism in J&K after the Baisaran terror attack, which left 26 civilians, including 25 tourists, dead on April 22.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi already chaired a meeting of the tourism ministry on the measures required to revive tourism in J&K. Two days ago, the PM chaired a meeting of the Niti Aayog, and I also attended it. He has assured us support and identified measures to ensure tourism is back in Kashmir,” Mr. Abdullah said.
He described the decision to hold the Cabinet meeting in Pahalgam “not just a routine administrative exercise, but a clear message”. “We are not intimidated by cowardly acts of terror. The enemies of peace will never dictate our resolve. Jammu & Kashmir stands firm, strong, and unafraid,” Mr. Abdullah said.
He said his visit, along with senior administrative officials, was also to “express solidarity with the local population”. “We’ve also come to thank all the tourists who are slowly making their way back to Kashmir and to Pahalgam,” Mr. Abdullah said.
