Is Akhilesh Yadav planning to create his independent party in Uttar Pradesh after his father and Samajwadi Party supremo  Mulayam Singh Yadav had expelled his son and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from the party?

It is too early to give any prediction about future of UP politics but feud in the family is likely to dent party's image which will affect result of the upcoming elections in the state.

From now, if Akhilesh Yadav goes alone with his independent party, the loyal masses to SP likely to opt out son and favour the father Mulayam Singh. While at the same time, Mulayam Singh is aging but is in no way a spent force. Bother Shivpal, who is close to him, still controls the nuts and bolts of the party, and by extension its rank and file.

If he opts for an alliance with any other party - it is reported that he is not averse to a tie-up with the Congress - there's little possibility of his scoring big in electoral gains. The Congress is likely to gain more from such an alliance than Akhilesh.

Despite the fact that Akhilesh Yadav has been a popular young face in the party and successful as Chief Minister but he is yet to win an election on his own.  It's his father's appeal and uncle Shivpal Yadav's  alliance-making skills that secured a massive victory for the party in 2012.

At the same time, we must not ignore the  fact that since then, Akhilesh has developed a sense of credibility and a significant chunk that supports his leadership.

So all in all, the game is getting interesting in Uttar Pradesh. It will be interesting to see how things turn in the upcoming elections in the state.
