After his victory in the US Open final, Carlos Alcaraz responded to Jannik Sinner’s remarks about needing to adjust his style of play to become “more unpredictable.” While Alcaraz dismissed the notion that Sinner’s game is easy to read, he also underlined that his own peak is yet to come, saying, “The best Carlos hasn’t emerged yet.”
Just moments after his defeat to Alcaraz, Sinner admitted he would need to make changes. “I’m going to try some adjustments, even if it means losing a few matches at first, but I want to be less predictable. That’s what I need to do in order to grow as a player,” Sinner had explained.
Alcaraz, however, offered a different perspective. Speaking to El País, the Spaniard said, “I wouldn’t call him predictable. Like him, I also watch and analyze many of his matches. I admire his game and the way he plays is incredible. It’s not about predictability, it’s about familiarity. We know each other better with every match we play.”
The rivalry between the two has already become one of tennis’s most talked about storylines, with 15 meetings so far, Alcaraz leading 10–5. Both players continue to push each other to evolve, and as Alcaraz hinted, his best tennis may still be on the horizon.
