The legal dispute over the estate of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur has intensified, with the Delhi High Court questioning his widow Priya Sachdev Kapur for not sharing a copy of his alleged will with his children Kiaan Raj Kapoor and Samaira Kapoor, born from his marriage with actor Karisma Kapoor. The two children have approached the court seeking their rightful share of the inheritance and have alleged that the will being produced by Priya is fabricated.
On Thursday, the Delhi High Court directed Priya Sachdev to disclose all movable and immovable properties belonging to Sunjay Kapur. The court order stated, “Issue notice. Reply within two weeks, rejoinder to be filed within a week thereafter. Along with the replies, Defendant 1 shall provide a list of all movable and immovable assets known as of June 12.”
The judge also questioned Priya’s reluctance to share the document with the children, remarking that a confidentiality agreement could be introduced if needed. The court observed that such protective measures, including confidentiality clubs, are often created in intellectual property cases and could apply here as well.
The disputed will
The will, said to be signed in March 2025—three months before Sunjay’s death—has become the center of the legal fight. Kiaan and Samaira maintain that the document is forged and created with the intention of excluding them from their father’s vast fortune. They told the court that neither the original will nor even a copy has ever been shown to them, which raises serious suspicion around its authenticity.
Sunjay Kapur’s estate
Sunjay Kapur passed away in June in England, reportedly from a heart attack while playing polo. He was the founder and chairman of Sona Comstar, one of the global leaders in auto component manufacturing. His estate is estimated to be worth ₹30,000 crore.
Sunjay married actor Karisma Kapoor in 2003, and the couple had two children, Samaira in 2005 and Kiaan in 2011, before separating in 2016. In 2017, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev, with whom he has a son.
